A little help with the practical bits.

Start a trip, keep useful reading close and understand what the tools can—and cannot—do. No account or app-store download is needed.

Getting started

Where should I start with a China trip?

Open the China guides and start with payments, mobile data and essential apps. Then explore places to visit and regional food.

Use the trip planner to add your dates, work through the preparation checklist and keep personal lists. Read source links and current provider requirements before relying on a guide.

Do I need an account?

No. You can read guides, create local trips and use the payment checker without a nihaonana account. There is no trip login, cloud backup or cross-device sync.

The planner keeps its workspace in your browser. The payment checker is different: submitting a check sends the selected context to our service. Read the privacy policy before adding information.

How do I save a guide to my trip?
  1. Open a guide and choose Add to my trip checklist.
  2. In the planner, choose an existing trip or create a new one.
  3. Confirm the save. The planner adds a linked reminder to the trip’s Saved guides group.

Opening a guide or following the save link alone does not save it. A saved reference links back to the guide; it does not download an offline copy or automatically add individual dishes and places to your lists.

Saved trips and installation

Where are my trips stored?

In this browser profile’s localStorage at www.nihaonana.com. Trip titles, dates, checklist progress and custom lists are not uploaded as a trip workspace.

Another browser, device, profile or website address has separate storage. Private browsing may discard data when the session ends. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to see the trips, so do not store passport details, payment credentials or passwords.

Why can’t I see a trip I saved before?

Check that you are using the same browser, browser profile and website address. A home-screen or Dock app may have separate storage from the browser that installed it.

The old nihaonana.com address redirects to www.nihaonana.com; it does not copy trips from the old address. Trips saved on our previous workers.dev address are separate too. The privacy policy explains the address change.

If you deleted a trip or cleared the browser data that held it, we cannot recover that local-only copy. Do not clear site storage as a troubleshooting step before checking your saved trips.

Can I use the planner or guides offline?

You need a connection to load the guides and planner, and to submit a payment check. Installing the web app does not download those features for offline use.

The service worker keeps only a connection-loss notice and its icon. A saved checklist link is not an offline article. Keep essential booking details, addresses and provider instructions separately available before travel.

How do I install nihaonana on my phone or computer?

Visit Install nihaonana for Safari, Chrome and Edge instructions. A native install button appears only when your browser offers that option; otherwise follow the device-specific steps.

Installation does not create an account or move your trips. Open the installed app and check its workspace before deleting anything in your original browser.

Payment checks and sources

Does the Alipay checker verify my card or make a payment?

No. It compares the network, operation and optional context you submit with applicable evidence for mainland China and Alipay. It does not access your bank account, link a card, authorize a transaction or process a payment.

Never enter a card number, security code, PIN, bank login, Alipay password or identity-document details. Read what the checker can tell you before using it.

What if a result is unknown, pending or unavailable?

Unknown means the evidence does not establish a reliable answer for that context; it does not mean your card is unsupported. Pending means a review has not finished. Unavailable means the service could not complete the check, not that a bank declined your card.

Follow the instructions shown with the result. Daily research limits are separate from short retry intervals; repeated submissions do not replenish them. Use the dated payment guides, confirm current requirements with Alipay and your issuer, and keep another way to pay.

Do the preparation tools cover Hong Kong and Macao?

The checklist and Alipay checker focus on mainland China. Some sightseeing and food content includes Hong Kong or Macao, but those places have different entry, payment and mobile-connectivity arrangements. Prepare them separately rather than treating a mainland checklist as complete coverage.

Where can I check a source or find contact information?

Each guide links to its sources and shows a source-review date. How we review explains scope, dates, automated research and what makes a useful correction. Use the email address on our Contact page for website questions, guide corrections or privacy enquiries.

For a website issue, include the page URL, what you expected to happen and what you saw instead. Your browser and device type can help explain a problem; passwords, identity documents and full trip notes are not needed.
